Archer Mayo
Search & Recovery Diver
Artist

Archer Mayo is an artist, diver, and amateur investigator with a knack for uncovering lost things underwater. Fascinated by the decades-old disappearance of the Martins, he has spent the past seven years searching for answers.
The Martin case isn’t the first high-profile puzzle Mayo has tried to piece together. In 2019, he discovered the CRITFC3 research vessel two years after it sank in the Columbia River. His work has given him a deep understanding of the river’s geology and geography, particularly in and around Cascade Locks.
He lives in White Salmon, Washington with his wife and two
dogs.

Archer has an MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design and has been working as a professional sculptor and designer since 2001. His work is an expression of his explorations into history, engineering, and the natural world.

Over his career he has worked in multiple materials including wood, ceramic, bronze, steel, resin, and other materials. He has completed several international artist residencies.

UPDATE: Archer is part of a three artist exhibition called "Surface Tension: Exploring the Complicated Sides of the River" which will be in the Columbia Center for the arts in Hood River Oregon for the month of April 2025.
